Twisted Stitch Cowl (Postponed)

The Lierne Cowl is a lovely example of Twisted stitch knitting. This project includes many technical elements such as: provisional cast on, knitting in the round, picking up live stitches, changing gauge through the use of needle changes, simple lace stitches, using a cable needle and blocking. This class would be ideal for knitters already comfortable with knit and purl stitches to increase their knowledge of some of the finer elements to make a spectacular garment.

Skill prerequisites

This class is ideal for advanced beginners interested in learning new techniques, or intermediate knitters who would like practice in combining techniques for great results. You should:

  • be proficient with knit and purl stitches
  • be familiar with knitting in the round
  • be familiar with standard increases and decreases
  • be able to identify mistakes and problems in your knitting (such as accidental yarn-overs, dropped or incorrectly mounted stitches)
Materials

Please bring the following with you to class:

  • A copy of the Lierne Cowl pattern (purchase from Ravelry: https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/lierne-cowl-aka-tierceron-ii)
  • 65grams of DK weight yarn (Sublime Extra Fine Merino DK works well)
  • a small amount of highly contrasting yarn of similar weight (scrap yarn for provisional cast on)
  • 16″ circular needles in 3.25mm, 3.5mm, and 3.75 mm
  • cable needle
Homework

There is no homework required to prepare for the first session.

During class, a moderate amount of homework will be assigned to prepare you for the next week’s instruction.
