For cardigan lovers, here’s a terrific modern, stylish take on a wardrobe staple. The pattern is St Catherines, by expert Scottish designer Kate Davies.
It’s designed for woolen-spun, Shetland-style fingering weight yarn. So, it works very well with the BC Garn Bio Shetland we are currently promoting on special offer.
Make this cardigan either in two contrasting colours, or in one solid colour.
It’s particularly worth noting how inexpensive this yarn is for making major garments. Make it in the smallest size with just three skeins (150g) of a single colour, or two each (200g total) of two contrasting colours. For the largest size (51″ at bust), only six skeins (300g) are required, either all in one colour, or three each of two contrasting colours.
The finished cardigan is light and airy, but very warm. It’s ideal for stylish layering and suitable for anything from grab-and-go casual to elegant informal wear.
Knitting techniques used include: garter stitch, short row shaping, picking up stitches, I-cord bind-off, 3-needle bind-off. The pattern instructions are clear and well-explained.
