Basic Two-colour Knitted Hat

Learn the ups and downs of 2-colour knitting, holding one colour in each hand and catching each stitch at the back of the work, while you make this lovely, warm, simple hat.
Techniques covered
- knitting with 2 colours in the round
- weaving in floats while you knit
- knitting in the round with 2 circular needles
Skill prerequisites
Students must be comfortable with knitting in the round with one colour.
Homework
Before the first class, students should:
- download the free pattern (from Ravelry: https://www.ravelry.com/
patterns/library/snowflower- hat-3) and print it out - purchase yarn and circular needles if you do not have them
- cast on in the Main Colour and knit the ribbing for the start of the hat, taking care to check gauge
- arrive at class with the hat on the needles ready to start the colour section of the hat
Materials
Bring the following materials to class:
- Snowflower Hat Pattern
- yarn suitable for the pattern, in 2 strongly contrasting colours (one could be a variegated yarn if you wish)
- 2 circular knitting needles ( one 16” and one longer) in size US 5 (3.75 mm) or size to obtain gauge
- circular knitting needle (16”) in size US 4 (3.5 mm) for ribbing
- stitch markers
