Entrelac Workshop (Postponed)

Entrelac knitting is a simple but rewarding knitting technique that you can use to create a seamless piece of knitting with the look of interwoven squares. In one session, you will learn the basics of entrelac technique, and will receive simple patterns for scarves in basic shapes.   For those who would like to practice their new skills right away, you’ll receive help after class with choosing appropriate project materials,and getting started with your first project, with follow-up assistance at the store as needed in following weeks.

In this class, you will swatch and learn:

  • increasing and decreasing
  • picking up stitches
  • understanding entrelac terminology, structure, and patterns
  • working entrelac squares and triangles
  • creating an entrelac piece from a row of base triangles
  • creating an entrelac piece on the bias, without base or edge triangles
  • purling back without turning

Prerequisites
This class is intended for beginner/intermediate knitters. You should:

  • be comfortable with knit and purl stitches
  • be able to identify simple mistakes and problems in your knitting (such as accidental yarn-overs, dropped or incorrectly mounted stitches)

Materials
You will need:

  • 20g each of worsted weight yarn in two contrasting colours
  • 4.5mm needles
  • Tape measure, scissors, darning needle, stitch markers; crochet hook; notebook & pencil.

There is no homework required to prepare for the workshop.
